James On Stage
Acting
James began acting when he tried it on a whim at 17 and accidentally changed his entire life path. He has a degree in Film, Television, and Theatre and a Musical Theatre Minor from the University of Notre Dame.
He has formal training in performing Shakespeare, Commedia dell'arte, Laban Movement, Viewpoints, Voiceover, and more.
Singing
His artistic journey started in his high school choir freshman year. Since then, he has been a member of multiple choral ensembles and
a capella groups. He has trained vocally with Kevin Wood throughout high school and Deborah Mayer at university. He is proficient at the ukulele and is currently learning piano and guitar.
New Work
James has an intense passion for creating, workshopping, and performing original work. He has workshopped multiple original productions, ranging from black-box one acts to big band musicals, as well as performed in and collaborated with the production team on all. The process of working with a new script and adjusting on the fly is one he embraces wholeheartedly.
Improv
Throughout college, James trained with Notre Dame's Premiere Improv Group, The Humour Artists. With them, he performed full-length improv shows to audiences ranging from dozens packed into a bar to hundreds filling a mainstage theatre. He is currently training at The Second City in Chicago.
Experimental Theatre
From devising to adapting, James is deeply invested in experimental theatre. He is incredibly interested in ensemble work and physical comedy.
He is the Co-Founder of Platform, an experimental production company dedicated to creating original art that pushes new online mediums. Past projects include a full-length hybrid play and a live-streamed performance in which the live chat influenced the story.
